Excavate to create a basement level
Some properties are ideally suited for creating a basement level, another good option if you want to avoid losing outdoor space. You can either include internal access or leave the new area as separate, self-contained accommodation.
- You’ll need a geotechnical survey, and civil, engineering and foundation work will be required
- To ensure your new space is completely liveable, the basement will need to be watertight with adequate light and ventilation
